Description
The tradition of distinctive red doors on churches dates back centuries. Red symbolizes the sacrificial blood of Christ and the ultimate sacrifice that others had made for their faith. Also, red doors have traditionally signified a place where one could find physical as well as spiritual protection, because those in need would not be captured or harmed inside the holy walls of a church.
The Messiah Lutheran Church shown here was founded in 1860 in Harrisburg, PA.
